Kaka

40°56.366 172°53.829. one Kaka seen flying over in roughly Westerly direction

Saw 4 Kaka in the trees above me on the Inland track an hour south of Awapoto hut.

Heard a Kaka fly over at Holyoake shelter.

About 100 metres from the Bark Bay hut on right hand side of path as you go towards the suspension bridge. Saw two of them together.

A pair of kaka feedimg on flax at the northern end of Torrent Bay. Too dark to get tag i/d or colour but they let us get very close. Flew off just before photp was allowed 😬

5 in big trees in front of hut. For about 2hrs from 6pm.

In the Rātā tree at Bark Bay just before you start the walk to Medlands Beach

Spotted on the Jaws Track in the Kaiteriteri Mountain Bike Park

At Bark bay i saw 3 but suspect there were more, they were very vocal it was spectacular. Only managed to video one, and three screenshots of the video attached. This was from the walkway right at the entrance to bark bay,. There was another 2 in the pohutukawa. Too far for a phone camera to identify so i didnt bother.
